Australia China Youth Exchange Programs
The Australia China Council’s Youth Exchange Programs have the objective to :
- Encourage young Australians to develop a life-long interest and involvement in Australia-China relations.
- Develop a cadre of young Australian graduates with Chinese language skills and a practical understanding of Chinese business practice
Currently there are 4 Youth Exchange Programs available through the Australia China Council (Young Business Scholars, Young Business Scholars in Taiwan, Year in China and China Experience). Currently the Year in China and China Experience programs are managed by Youth Development Australia (YDA). This website has been developed by YDA to support these programs and is not endorsed by the Australia China Council.
Year in China 中国年
Year in China Program (中国年项目) is designed to encourage young Australian secondary school graduates who have studied Chinese to develop a life-long interest and involvement in Australia-China relations. The program aims at providing those secondary school graduates who have a superior level of Chinese linguistic ability with an opportunity to attend a Chinese university for a year.
Program participants will undertake 2 semesters of intensive language classes with cultural electives at Zheijiang University, Hangzhou in eastern China. They will be accommodated on campus and all tuition, accommodation and contribution towards food will be covered under the award.
Five graduates will be selected through open competition to participate in the Year in China Program.

China Experience 中国经历
In addition to the Year in China Program the China Experience
Program (中国经历项目) is a four week program for Australian Students in Years 10 and
11, studying Chinese, to undertake studies at a Chinese school,
focusing on language and culture in China. During the 2006 - 2007 China
Experience Program the young scholars spent several weeks
attending the Dalian No.44 Middle School in Dalian, north-eastern China
and had 'home stay' opportunities with Chinese families. They
also had several days touring in Beijing and Harbin.
